And there it stands, white and shining...

We can’t avoid mentioning the container first, as it will definitely cause a strong first impression when you get on the square from one of the narrow streets and suddenly see it.

Designed by Richard Meier, the Macba (inaugurated in 1995) provoked all kinds of reactions: some loved it, some hated it. Next to ten years later, it has managed to settle quietly into its (not so quiet) surroundings.

The works are not displayed in a permanent manner, but are rotated through the different rooms of the museum to accommodate suitable space for temporary exhibitions.

While there, don't forget to have a look at the Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre (CCCB), which organizes temporary exhibitions related to contemporary culture.
